SEVA – Devoted to saving tigers, wildlife and mother earth
About Us: Who are we?
Located in Mumbai, Seva is registered under Seva Charitable Trust. We currently provide support for over 1,500 adivasis / tribe members through various initiatives, and with increased funding will continue to help more and more people.
A pan-India, not for profit organization, SEVA started its footprint from the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Mumbai, working closely with the Government and tribals / adivasis in the interiors of the SGNP.
Who do we work for?
Apart from the various species of flora and fauna, the park is also home to nearly 4,000 adivasis, who depend heavily on the rapidly depleting forest resources - making a livelihood out of selling fruits and ration earmarked for the animals in the forest.
What do we do?
We work closely with the adivasis to save the forest and the animals. We counsel them and make them aware of the importance of protecting the eco-system.
? Provide alternative livelihoods so they are able to sustain themselves independently.
? Provide solar stove units in their homes so that they stop cutting trees for cooking and heating in adivasi homes.
? Through collaborations with leading institutes (NIFD, NIIT, ITM) train them for making high-end products to be exported and retailed in major stores across the country
? Tie up with leading eco hotels in Mumbai to train them and provide them with jobs
? Tackle their medical problems through voluntary camps/ tie-ups with leading brands in healthcare to give them free/subsidized treatment
? work on youth development projects
