Pragya (India) is a non-governmental development organisation working for the sustainable development of the Himalayan region and its vulnerable & marginalised communities, as well as for the conservation of its sensitive ecosystem. Grassroots projects are being implemented across the entire high-altitude belt of the Himalayas. Application and policy research, and advocacy actions are being carried out nationally and regionally, which are helping to support, supplement and enhance the impacts of our grassroots work.
We work across the entire stretch of the Himalayas in India, spanning 13 districts in 6 Indian states: Leh and Kargil (Jammu & Kashmir), Lahaul & Spiti, Chamba and Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh), Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), Darjeeling (West Bengal), North and West Sikkim (Sikkim), and Tawang and West Kameng (Arunachal Pradesh). Our work is delivered through multiple field offices located in Himalayan districts and a central coordination office in Gurgaon in the National Capital Region. We also partner with other State and non-state actors in our work.
